DROP THE DITTO AND PICK UP A CELLO.... FOOD NEWS FOR THE HAMPTONS!

So Eric Lemonides has decided to shelve his Mexican concept... ALMONDITO... which was the only decent sit down Mexican in the Hamptons for an Italian concept called Almoncello. Anyway, I wasn't happy about this since Mex is my favorite.
Last week I went opening night (Wed.) and Friday to try out the new menu. So how was it... pretty darn good. While I can't tell you what was great on the menu, I can tell you I tried the veal and the past (ravioli) and both were awesome. As for the rest, the atmosphere is warm.. the service was quick and friendly. So congrats to Eric on another job well done. Fridays at Almond... Saturday at Almoncello.
Despite my mourning over the loss of Almondito and Estia Cantina in Amagansett.... there is a ray of hope. Rumor has it the Ralph Lauren/ Blue Parrot deal is dead! So, the Blue Parrot will be coming back.... with NEW OWNERS. Now I don't want to bad mouth the old Parrot but I thought it was mediocre and very expensive. So I'm optimistic about new owners. OH WE NEED GOOD MEX... AND CHINESE IN THE HAMPTONS.

A Funny thing Happened on the way to the Hilton Theatre!!!

Sutton Foster & Roger Bart

Ok, so i liked THE PRODUCERS.... both the movie (original with Zero and Gene) and the musical on broadway. So when I found out that Mel Brooks was doing a stage version of the movie YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN I was totally psyched. I have to admit I can probably watch that movie over and over again and practically recite the whole thing from start to finish. Wow! YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN THE MUSICAL! It was a no brainer for me.... an Abbey somebody brainer (watch the movie... you'll get it).

So where did I go to drop down... gulp... $180 to see the most hilarious and ghoulish stage performance of "Puttin on the Ritz?" I went to broadway.com to get my tickets. $150 for the tickets and $30 for service charge. But it was ok... I was buying orchestra seats!

Well low and behold when I get to the theatre, I'm in the second to last row in the balcony. NOW HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? Well you know what... the show was a lot of fun... but i probably would have enjoyed it more if the seats i bought were the seats I was sitting in. I discovered this when I picked up my tickets at the will call box office. After the show I logged onto my computer and e mailed Broadway.com about this error. Their comment? Sorry, we can't do anything but we would have been happy to exchange your tickets BEFORE the show. It's policy that if the tickets you purchase on line become unavailable.... they just put you somewhere else!!!!!! UGH! So don't say I didn't tell you. If you must buy tickets from Broadway.com, make sure you get your tickets ahead of time. Ok, so I'm going to put the candle back... have some Ovaltine and to reflect on how much funnier that "little zipper neck" would have been if I could have seen him up close.
